Funding and Independence
Published in full. Reviewed annually. Our independence is structural, not aspirational.
The SRP does not take editorial instructions from any funder, including the Government of Somaliland. Editorial decisions — what is published, what is commissioned, how library material is categorised — are made solely by the editorial board under the published editorial policy.
The editorial board operates independently from the founding board on all content matters. No founding board member or funder has the right to review content before publication, to request removal of content, or to direct the editorial stance of the portal.
Unacceptable fundingThe SRP will not accept funding from:
- ›The Government of Somaliland or any of its agencies or representative offices
- ›The Federal Government of Somalia or any of its affiliated entities
- ›Any government with a direct stake in the Somaliland recognition question, including via intermediaries
- ›Anonymous donors, shell companies or entities whose ultimate beneficial ownership cannot be verified
- ›Donors seeking editorial control, attribution rights, or influence over content
Funders contributing above the disclosure threshold (£5,000 / $6,000 per calendar year) are named below. This list is updated within 30 days of any qualifying contribution.
Funding disclosure will be published here at the time of the soft launch. The portal is currently in its pre-launch phase.
The SRP is incorporated as a registered charity under English law. The founding board is legally responsible for governance, financial management and compliance. The editorial board is operationally independent and responsible for all content decisions.
Annual accounts are published on the charity's public register. The SRP's Articles of Association are available on request from info@recognise-somaliland.org.
